Wingers and their attributes to look for

Wingers are essential players in a 4-3-3, as they are responsible for providing width to the team's attack and creating goal-scoring opportunities. When looking for a winger to play in a 4-3-3 in Football Manager, there are several key attributes to consider.

Winger Attributes

Dribbling

Wingers need to be able to beat their opponents in one-on-one situations, and dribbling is a crucial skill for this. Look for players with high dribbling attributes, as they will be able to run at defenders and create space for themselves and their teammates.

Pace (and acceleration)

Wingers need to be able to get up and down the pitch quickly, and pace is an important attribute for this. Look for players with high pace, as well as a corresponding acceleration, attribute. They will be able to outrun opposition defenders and get into good attacking positions.

Crossing

Your wingers are often called upon to deliver crosses into the box, and crossing accuracy is a crucial attribute for this. Look for players with high crossing attributes, as they will be able to deliver accurate crosses that their teammates can convert into goals.

Work Rate

For me, it’s important that the wingers also contribute defensively, and work rate is an important attribute for this. Aim for players with high work rate attributes. This way they will be able to track back and help defend when needed.

Stamina

Maintaining energy levels throughout a game is key, and stamina plays a big part in this. Search for a winger with stamina attributes over 12. Stamina needs to be above average, as they will need to make runs up and down the pitch and contribute to the team’s attack and defence.

In conclusion

A good winger should be a well-rounded player with a combination of attacking, creative, and defensive attributes. This allows them to contribute to the team’s success.
