How to obtain Thestral hair and find Thestrals in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy has taken the gaming world by storm, and it’s not surprising. Harry Potter fans around the world has been hoping for an open-world game for years, and Hogwarts Legacy does not disappoint.

As a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you’ll find yourself in need of some Thestral hair at some point in your journey. As you progress, you eventually get the option to improve your clothing. To do so, you need to find and save magical beasts.

The hair is prized for its properties as a powerful wand core, and it’s also a key ingredient in several potions and spells. Thestral hair can be difficult to come by, but with a little exploration and know-how, you can track down the winged horse with a skeleton face.

Where to find Thestrals in Hogwarts Legacy

There are several locations where you can track down the Thestrals. My go-to is in the North Ford Bog, all the way on the top of the map.

Just south-east of the Floo Flame at San Bakar’s Tower is a den inhabited by Thestral.

Once you’ve located a Thestral, the next step is to capture it using your Nab-Sack.

How Do I Capture A Thestral?

  1. My go to method for any Magical Beast is to use a Disillusionment Charm, so that I sneak up on the Beast.
  2. Afterwards I use Levioso to immobilize the Thestral.
  3. Finally, I deploy the Nab-Sack to capture it before I eventually return to the Room of Requirements.

Alternative ways to obtain Thestral Hair

Worth noting that Thestral hair can also be obtained by purchasing it from other wizards or witches. Keep an eye out for individuals selling rare or exotic magical items, and you may be able to strike a deal for some Thestral hair. Though you’ll quickly run out of coins if you must buy all your supply.
